| Movie 2007 Totals | These rules are the rules by which the Box Office Mojo Box Office Fantasy Game are played by. The game has been running since February 2006. It was originally developed by Geekfreek_000 with help from Sheabert (in the budgets department). Eventually Jajang developed a website to help track the numbers. The Game has since evolved from there and so far 29 players have ventured into the arena with many more wanting to join in the new year. | ||||||||||||||

| Weekend Index | 1. Each player will be given $50,000,000 dollars when they join to begin investing. | ||||||||||||||

| All-Time Records | 2. Players who play in the previous year (ie. 2006), will receive a bonus $ amount based upon how much they earn for the year as follows: | ||||||||||||||

| 2007 | a. For every dollar between 0m and 500m – $1m will be added for every $100m you earn. (at 500m you will have earnt 5m in bonuses.) | ||||||||||||||
| Yearly | b. For every dollar between 500m and 750m - $1m will be added for every $50m you earn. (ie. At 700m – will have 5m + 5m = 10m) | ||||||||||||||
| % Invested | c. For every dollar between 750m and 1000m - $1m will be added every $25m you earn. (ie. At 1000m – you will have 10m + 10m = 20m) | ||||||||||||||

| % Invested | The initial payout will happen by the first Sunday in January. The final payment will happen on the first Sunday in February when the previous years game closes. - NB - This will be reviewed in October 07 for the 08 game. | ||||||||||||||

| 4. To invest in a movie, you must have the amount you are investing available in your bank account. | |||||||||||||||
| 5. Only a film’s PRODUCTION BUDGET will be used for this game. | |||||||||||||||
| 6. Only a film’s DOMESTIC GROSS will be used for this game | |||||||||||||||
| 7. Any unknown budgets will be estimated. If no official budget is ever released, the estimate will stand as fact. If the official budget is released at a later time, that will be used instead of the estimate. Any budget changes are final and the player will have to accept them accordingly. | |||||||||||||||
| 8. Priority for who gets rights to a movie will be on a first come, first serve basis. Unfortunately, that is the only way that it’s possible to run this right now. | |||||||||||||||
| 9. You may only invest in a movie 1 FULL month before its release date. The date MUST be exact accordance to the current calendar date. For example, if it February 28, you can only invest in films being released on or before March 28. You must wait until March 1 to invest in films being released on March 29, 30 and 31. | |||||||||||||||
| 10. Players can
choose to only invest in part or all of a films budget. Depending on the
estimated budget will depend on what % of the budget you can invest in.
* Movie Budgets Estimated < 100m : Players can invest in 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of the budget. * Movie Budgets Estimated >= 100m : Players can invest in 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%, 100% of the budget. Players will receive the % of the earnings from the film based upon which % invested in the film. Eg. invested 25%, you will receive 25% of the earnings. |

| 11. To prevent a lack of films to invest in, a films budget can be invested in 200% by all players. (That is to say, we are going to pretend that 2 of the same film will be released). The maximum amount of the budget that a player can invest in a film is 100%. NOTE: If someone invests 75% into a movie and someone later invests an additional 50% and no other investments are made. The 50% investor will lose 25% of their investment. This makes sure that the total adds up to 100%. | |||||||||||||||
| 12. Note on above rule: if more than 200% of investments is recorded at the same time in the thread, (the time must be identical) for a single movie, then the following applies: | |||||||||||||||
| a. if the total is < 300% then all investments are accepted as is | |||||||||||||||
| b. if the total % > 300% then all investments that are above the 200% mark will be changed. First in will still get the highest % in this case, but your % will only ever be lowered from your initial investment. It will always be in increments of 25% (I will oversea this rule). If there are more than 4 investments accepted above 200% through this rule, I review this on a case by case basis but it is likely that all investors will simply get 25% each. | |||||||||||||||
| 13. The film must be COMPLETELY invested in the day before its release. If 100% of a film is invested in, than that film will be released as scheduled. BUT REMEMBER, we're assuming 2 versions of the film will be released. Now that the first 100% is full, the second 100% must also be full for that copy of the film to be valid. If only 50% of the SECOND copy of that film is invested in the day of release, the investor of the 50% will lose all their money. This encourages players to find people to invest in the full amount of the movie. | |||||||||||||||
| 14. 1500% Rule (Replaces the 1200% rule) | |||||||||||||||
| a. Investors may invest freely up to a total of 1500% for the year. This is a total of 15 movies for the year, assuming the investor invested the full amount of each movie. | |||||||||||||||
| b. Once an investor has reached their 1500% total, any future investments on a particular film that they make can only be made once the first 100% of a that film has been invested in by other players. | |||||||||||||||
| c. On the Monday prior to the release date of a particular movie, those investors who have invested above 1500% can invest in the movie no matter if the first 100% has been taken or not. | |||||||||||||||
| d. Once the investor reaches a total of 2000% for the year, they will no longer be able to make any further investments for the year. | |||||||||||||||
| 15. Franchise Rules | |||||||||||||||
| a. If choosing to invest into a franchise, you will have the opportunity to invest in any sequels produced 6 months in advance (instead of 1 month like other films). However, the money required to invest in that film will only be taken 1 month before the film is released. If you do not have the money to invest in the sequel or decide to pass on it, any other player may choose to purchase rights to that sequel. | |||||||||||||||
| b. You also have the rights to “sell” franchises to other players. If you do not want to produce a franchise’s sequel, you may sell them at a negotiated price to another player. Otherwise players will have to wait up until 1 month before the film is released to purchase rights to it (and you will not receive any money for it). | |||||||||||||||
| c. If less then 100% is left in a film because of franchise commitments (as per above before the 1 month prior release date), then a further 100% will be opened to allow normal investors the opportunity to invest that movie. | |||||||||||||||
| Eg. Saw IV is a franchise movie due for release in 2007. If all investors in Saw III took their full % again in 2007, then 1 month prior to the release date, 100% would be opened to investors. | |||||||||||||||
| 16. You cannot invest in the same film twice. (If you invest 100% of the film’s budget, you can not invest in the film a second time.) | |||||||||||||||
| 17. Once each 100% section of each film has been invested in, all the investors are locked into the investment. Unless an investor invested in the full 100% alone, then they may withdraw from the investment if they wish. | |||||||||||||||
| 18. If you decide to cancel an investment, the following guidelines are in place to secure the amount of money that will be returned to your account: | |||||||||||||||
| a. Cancelled within 2 days of release: 25% of investment will be returned | |||||||||||||||
| b. Cancelled within 1 week of release: 50% of investment will be returned | |||||||||||||||
| c. Cancelled prior to 1 week of release: 75% of investment will be returned | |||||||||||||||
| d. Cancelled prior to 2 weeks of release: 100% of investment will be returned. | |||||||||||||||
| 19. You cannot lower your investment. For example, if you invest 75% into a movie, you can not change your investment to 50%. You can, however, raise your investment to a higher percentage. And, of course, you are able to sell parts of your investment (in 25% increments) to other players if you no longer wish to have them. | |||||||||||||||
| 20. If you no longer have enough money to continue with the game, you can claim bankruptcy and your account will automatically be reset and you will start all over with $50 million in your account. | |||||||||||||||
| 21. All money is being tracked via the Fantasy Game Website. | |||||||||||||||
| 22. The website will normally updated on a weekly basis after Thursday’s numbers are in. There may be special occasions when the website is updated otherwise. | |||||||||||||||
| 23. The time in which all day changes occurs is at 12:00 AM CENTRAL TIME! Not midnight your local time, but 12:00 AM CENTRAL! If you're choosing to invest in a movie being released in exactly one month, make sure the date is at 12:00 AM CENTRAL!! (GMT – 5 hours) | |||||||||||||||
| 24. You can choose to sell all or part of your investment to someone else no matter whether you locked in or not. You cannot sell any part of the movie once it is released. You can only sell in lots of 25% (ie. 25, 50 75 or 100). The transaction must be completed (both parties agree to movies, price and %’s) prior to being accepted as a sale. If the transaction is incomplete prior to the movie going into release then the transaction is cancelled. | |||||||||||||||
